Grant’s Farm outing

One of the best things about growing up in a small town is the lasting friendships you develop because of your upbringing. Brenda and I have known each other since we were very little, and though sometimes our relationship wasn’t always friendly, we worked through it and are now best friends. I cherish her friendship so much and always enjoy our times together.

Recently, Brenda, her 8 month old son Snyder, and her old babysitting charge Ella came up to St. Louis for the day. Ella decided we should go to Grant’s Farm and see all the animals. I was super excited because not only do I love Grant’s Farm but also this is the first time Brenda would get to see our new home! Bren, being the good mommy, decided we should pack a lunch so we could enjoy the outdoors.

We arrived at the Farm right around lunch time and after parking (which was a bit expensive but since everything else is free it really is a deal) Bren decided we should do our picnic lunch before enjoying the Farm. I got the pleasure of feeding Snyder who LOVES to eat with his own hands. Most of his lunch ended up on the ground or on us but he sure had fun doing it! After lunch, we ventured over to the Clydesdale stables where Ella and Snyder got their picture taken with Pedro, a huge Clydesdale with a great personality. Then we walked through the stables seeing a few of the horses and onto a sidewalk area where you could see more Clydesdales in various stages of life. There were two young colts that kept scratching their behinds on the fences, making everyone laugh. Ella really seemed to love this part, getting to pet the horses be so close to them. Snyder loved trying to climb on the fence! We then went into the Farm and loaded the tram to take our tour through the acres.

It was such a nice day that day so we were certain to see some of the animals. Feel free to look at the pictures below to see the variety of animals we saw on our ride. After exiting the tram we walked around, looking at the various exhibits. I was very excited to watch Ella and Snyder feed the llamas and camels so we made sure to bring some quarters to buy food. They both were adorable feeding the animals. Ella was very conscious to make sure all of them got equal share. I included pictures below of both of them so check it out! After feeding the llamas and camels we all (including me!) fed the baby goats. I was so excited to get to do this since last time I was at Grant’s Farm I didn’t get to. Not only did they want the milk bottle but several decided to chew on my shorts as well! Again, Ella took her time to make sure many goats got a treat. Snyder and Mom had quite the fun time, even having several jump up on Snyder to get the bottle.

We all had a great afternoon and I loved getting to spend time with my friend. The wonderful thing about Grant’s Farm is it is fun for both children and adults. Though Bren and I did not partake in the free beer, we still had fun taking the kiddos around and participating ourselves. It is definitely a place that anyone visiting St. Louis should put on their agenda. It isn’t very expensive and there is things for all ages to do.

I hope you enjoyed reading and keep looking for our new adventures!
